ChicBlvd.com and Hint Mint Raise Over $10,000 to Fight the HIV/AIDS Pandemic
(PRWeb) March 25, 2007 -- In November 2006, ChicBlvd.com--astounded by the figure that every 14 seconds a child is orphaned by AIDS--began a journey to raise awareness and funding for the life-threatening disease of HIV/AIDS.
With Hint Mint--the original designer mint company--as their partner, they executed a campaign called Carry a Tin 4 AIDS (www.chicblvd.com/aids and www.carryatin.com).
Through this unique project, 50 people were asked to "carry a tin"--which meant they would take one of the 35 mints inside of an AIDS Awareness Hint Mint tin, make a donation to a designated AIDS charity, and pass the tin on to another person.
As the tins passed from person to person in attempts of getting the tin to the YouthAIDS Headquarters in Washington DC--they not only raised money, but awareness around the world.
Each tin carrier was asked to log their tin location at a designated website and make a personal statement about HIV/AIDS. The tins traveled worldwide making an impact--everywhere from Los Angeles to Canada to Germany!
Every person who carried a tin was also prompted to make a donation (on behalf of their tin) to Hint Mint's partner charity, YouthAIDS, or ChicBlvd's partner charity, Compassion.com.
Then… only three months later--through AIDS Awareness Hint Mint tin sales, AIDS Awareness Limited Edition chicBuds sales and the simple act of kindness by carrying a tin initially raised over $10,000 for YouthAIDS and Compassion International.
And as ChicBlvd and Hint Mint were bringing this campaign to a close, ChicBlvd's partner Daisy Rock, the girl guitar company, stepped up to make an even greater impact.
They donated 2 high-end guitars to the cause: a Daisy Rock's Short-Scale Heartbreaker Guitar and a Schecter Gryphon Limited Edition Flametop Electric Guitar. They were auctioned off eBay and raised nearly $600 more!
ChicBlvd.com founders Nikki Gutshall and Kailynn Bowling released a statement saying "We are thankful for all those who stepped up to make the Carry a Tin 4 Aids campaign a success. While the amount raised by this project represented only a small portion of the funds and participation needed in order to put an end to this pandemic, we hope that enough lives were touched so that the 'pay it forward' concept will be continued until this disease is ended once and for all!"
ChicBlvd.com has evolved into the premier avenue of engaging young women and providing guidance for life! It's the "girlfriend's guide for the road of life" regardless of the stage a girl is in--whether single, dating, getting married, having a baby or pursuing her career. There is something for everyone.
